History

RAF Methwold operated Wellingtons and Venturas from a grass airfield from 1939 until 1943.During this period Sqn Ldr Trent, a Ventura captain, was involved in an attack for which he was later awarded the VC. In 1943 the airfeild was upgraded with 3 concrete runways and operated Stirlings and Lancasters. Little usage after the war.
