History

RAF Coltishall opened in 1940 and is due to close in 2006, during those 66 years it has been in continuous use as a fighter base. During the Battle of Britain it was part of the "Duxford Wing". Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito, Meteor, Javelin, Hunter and Lightning are amongst the many famous aircraft types that have operated from here. In 1974 it became the "home" of the Jaguar.
